Wayne Irving, CEO of Iconosys, discusses how he got the TrickorTracker app discovered by thousands and how the app became a very popular app for parents during Halloween, and beyond.

How do you plan to get your app discovered by customers? If your app has thousands of downloads, share with the MOTODEV community your best practices for getting discovered by customers.

Nicole from MOTODEV: What does the TrickorTracker app do?

Wayne from Iconosys: Trick or Tracker is a year-round bi-directional family locator Smart Phone application that not only allows mom and or dad to keep tabs on where their children might be when they are not in their direct supervision, but it allows the children to identify exactly where they are, identify where mom and dad might be, and even allows the child to send their location to their parents in the event of a stress call situation.

The app can update the parents in set intervals, while the child is away from the parents, or on-demand when the parents feel the need to check-in with their children that are not in their presence.

Nicole from MOTODEV: How did your team come up with the idea for TrickorTracker?

Wayne from Iconosys: I have 4 children, I was kidding with a couple executives here at Iconsys about how I used to go Trick or Treating by myself as a child and how my parents really had no idea where I was, nor seemed to worry about it that much. We all agreed, that today in these times, that I have a hard time allowing my children out of my site or the site of a trusted family friend or family member, let alone on a mischievous night like Halloween.

Nicole from MOTODEV: TrickorTrakcker has been featured on popular shows like Good Morning America and the Today Show, how did it become so popular?

Wayne from Iconosys: Because every family wants to know their kids are safe during the holiday.  Kathy Lee said "Great Name and Good for them for Making that!"  The Big Show in West Palm Beach said "They are doing god's work".   We were actually surprised at the response we got, but have embraced it and watched it see downloads year round as a result of the functions and comfort that it provides the parents that use it.  In the office, we "Trick or Track" each other, we say "I trick or tracked you"  when we are trying to find one another from time to time.

Nicole from MOTODEV: What sort of things have you done to help get your app discovered by customers?

Wayne from Iconosys: We have contacted PTA's for about 500 elementary schools accross the country, we promote and give the Halloween themed app away on Halloween Day as a way of making it available for everyone.

Nicole from MOTODEV: This app is available on Android smartphones; is there plans to create a tablet app?

Wayne from Iconosys: The app relies on the reliability of SMS Messaging.  So the app works on Tablets that are SMS enabled.  The app also works from non-Android devices and IM's that the parents may operate (like Google Voice, YIM, and others that allow for SMS).  SMS reliability is key to the success and accuracy of Trick or Tracker®  not to mention, the lightweight needs of SMS often allows for an SMS Message to travel through, even when there is not enough bars to carry a voice conversation.

Nicole from MOTODEV: Where can folks go to find out more about Iconosys and download the TrickorTracker app?

Wayne from Iconosys: www.trickortracker.com from any browser and/or the Android Marketplace
