Hi,
Last week as part of Motorola’s Global Week of Service initiative, we at Motorola UK office did an “Android App Development Bootcamp” at a school – Aldworth Science College.
We spoke to students about technology, and key terms like hardware, software, applications. The careers available in technology were introduced and skills required to be an Engineer or App Developer were explained. The ‘App Inventor’ was introduced and we walked students through Android app development using this tool. They were given an activity where they were required to create an android using a few art supplies. The students were very creative and did a nice make up to android as well.
Here is the pic:
The students were given a contest to write about “What makes a good app” – which resulted in getting their best creative side for us to see. The apps ranged from some really useful applications(productivity), games, fashion etc. Finally the students got to play with devices which they absolutely loved.
Overall, it was a great session of learning and sharing some android love with bright young minds!
Cheers
Karan
