Hi,

I am kinda of new to the various IDE's floating around. I installed the Eclipse IDE with eClair. I have a Droid coming and would like to develop specifically for it. My questions are:

1. What am I missing by NOT using MotoDev Studio. Does it have add-ins targeted for Motorola devices?

2. Should I wait for you to come out with MotoDev Studio that works with eClair?

We are putting the wraps on the engineering work for Eclair support. Unfortunately, it's not just a matter of installing the SDK at this time because of our code dependencies on the Google ADT plugins.  This will get better over time, but right now it's one of our growing pains. 

If you are just getting started, I suggest using MOTODEV Studio to learn the ropes and use the API calls in Donut (SDK 1.6). In a very short time, you will have an update that will allow you to install and use the Eclair SDK. I will make a posting here in these forums and on the MOTODEV Studio blog when the update is available.

If you want to use the Eclair SDK and play with the new emulator, by all means download the tools and play with them.You can manually install apps built with Studio into the Eclair emulator. You just can't debug at this time. Soon, I promise.

If you really want to do development against the Eclair SDK today, then you should use Eclipse+ADT. When Studio 1.0.2 is available, we would love for you to try the product. Your project files will migrate directly, so pick the option that suits your needs.
